Where have all the young girls gone?
“Where have all the young girls gone” was made in 2005 after the Tsunami disaster. The title refers to a song sung by Joan Baez after the Vietnam war and remarks on the tremendous loss of human lives. Immitating a sarcophage guarded by rabbits, the colourful rings, represent infinity, wedding bands, bubbles from rushing water and colored candy. The shoe enclosed symbolises the`glass slipper,`little girls dreams and princes from fairy tales, attainable or not depending upon lifes circumstances. The sculptural work was created using free association, followed by the stacking and piling of the symbolic pieces. An organised mess of mind matter and emotion.
